Your Healthy Eyes - Match Your Frame to Your Face
Have you ever picked out a great style frame and asked yourself… “Why doesn’t this look right on me?” Not every frame looks great on every face. That’s why it’s important to accentuate your best features by matching the frame style to your face shape.
Your frames can make a statement about who you are. Are you into the latest fashions or conservative when it comes to your clothing and accessories? Do you play sports or do you prefer to cuddle up with a good book? Maybe you like to do both. When it comes to shoes, most people have more than one pair—dress shoes for going out or for work, and another pair of running shoes or hiking boots for outdoor activities. Just like shoes, most people need more than one pair of glasses—one everyday pair for going out or for work and another pair for outdoor activities. Having different style frames for different activities and moods can make wearing glasses fun.
When choosing a frame, the shape and size of the frame should enhance the color of your eyes, complement your skin tone and play up the best features of your overall face shape. For example, to help soften angular facial lines of a long, narrow face try a round or oval frame. For someone with a larger forehead, full cheeks, or rounded chin, try sharpening your features by wearing rectangular, aviator-style, square or geometric shaped frames.
What Face Shape Are You?
Look in a mirror and decide what type of face shape you have. Then match the face shape with the frame style for the perfect look.
| Face Shape |
Frame Style |
| Oblong |
Try a frame that has a top-to-bottom depth with decorative or contrasting temples. |
| Triangle |
Try a frame with heavily accented color on top or an aviator shape. |
| Diamond |
Cat eye, square or even rimless frames will look good. |
| Round |
Choose an angular or narrow frame such as a rectangular or geometric shape. |
| Square |
Narrow frame styles such as ovals, round or cat eye shapes look best. |
| Oval |
Almost anything works with the oval face shape. |
| Heart |
Choose a frame that is wider at the bottom. Light colors and rimless styles work, too. |
